About Hnos Martínez Gil
The "Hermanos Martínez Gil" was a duo composed by Carlos (October 8, 1907 - February 9, 1972) and Pablo (January 24, 1910 - January 23, 1987), two Mexican musicians and composers born in Misantla, Veracruz and both died in Mexico City. Children of Pablo Martínez Guerra and Rosario Gil Barradas, acted as duets of guitars during most of his professional life. Founding partners of the Society of Authors and Composers of Mexico.
They debuted professionally in 1930 in the port of Veracruz and moved to Mexico City that same year.
As composers, the first song they made was La Jarochita. With this composition they started a chain of works that managed to successfully reach the Mexican popular taste. The themes of Chacha linda, Falsaria, Adiós amor, Cachito de mi alma, Adivinanza, Una spina, Vuelve, among others stand out.
Among the performers who have been singing the songs of Carlos and Pablo Martínez Gil, apart from themselves, there have been Emilio Tuero, Antonio Aguilar, Antonio Bribiesca, Carlos Lico, Óscar Chávez, Vicente Fernández, Gualberto Castro, La Sonora Matancera and others.
