another well written song by John. often misunderstood as being a song about being a dad. It's actually a very sad commentary about a man who went thru life thinking he was the shit, mistreating people doing and saying whatever he had too.
"take your picture off the wall" is a symbolic gesture to say you are not as important as you think you are. "No one calls" you never really had any friends.
It's a very depressing song, of a,man looking back at his life with regret.
