Review by Michael Andrews

Jazz, the album by John Lee Hooker, is a timeless classic that showcases the blues legend's versatility and range. Released in 1991, the album features Hooker's bluesy vocals and guitar playing combined with a jazz band, resulting in a unique and captivating sound.

The album starts off with "I Cover the Waterfront," a smooth and soulful track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Hooker's gravelly voice is perfectly complemented by the jazzy instrumentation, creating a rich and layered sound. The album also features several instrumental tracks, including "Blues for My Baby" and "Mambo Chillun," which showcase Hooker's guitar skills and the band's ability to improvise and jam.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Don't Look Back," a haunting and melancholic song that features Hooker's emotive vocals and poignant lyrics. The album closes with "The Healer," a powerful and uplifting track that features guest vocals by Carlos Santana and a memorable guitar solo by Hooker.
