Larry's Rebels - Everybodys Girl

Review by Alex Alviar

Larry's Rebels' album "Everybody's Girl" is a classic example of the garage rock sound that was prevalent in the 1960s. The album consists of twelve tracks that are a mix of covers and original compositions. The band's energy and enthusiasm are evident in every song, making it an enjoyable listen from start to finish.

The album opens with the title track "Everybody's Girl," which is a catchy tune that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Larry's Rebels' cover of "My Son John" is another highlight of the album, with the band's raw energy adding a new dimension to the traditional folk song.

The band's original compositions, such as "It Ain't Necessarily So" and "Let's Think of Something," showcase their songwriting abilities. These songs have a distinct garage rock sound, with fuzzy guitar riffs and driving drum beats.

Larry's Rebels' cover of "Paint It Black" is a standout track on the album. The band's rendition of the Rolling Stones' classic is unique, with the addition of a horn section and a more upbeat tempo.

Hey this is a cool version, I never knew Larry re-recorded this, quite often re-recording one of your own hits never quite hits the mark. This one works !.

...love that Los Bravos, Black is Black bassline in the chorus, but then if it works, it works. Saw them when they were doing a high school lunchtime tour in Auckland in the 60s. Some great bands were around at the time. Thanks for the memories.

I miss real music!! Today's stuff all sounds the same, words mumbled and auto tune, lousy singers with no talent.
