Engineer, (and teacher) Mark Thackeray arrives to teach a totally cantankerous class at an "East End" school. Still hoping for a good engineering job, he's hopeful that he won't be there long and deal with their undisciplined nonsense. He starts to delegate his own brand of classroom discipline which entails forcing the pupils to treat each other with respect. Eventually in the socially unconscious 60s he begins getting involved in the students' personal lives, and must avoid the advances of an amorous student while winning over the class's admiration through and through. Since many of you whom are reading this review don't go back as far as the sixties... civil rights, human rights and racism was rife with problems that only started to be addressed in the following decades marching forwards. I probably don't have to mention gay and women's rights that I personally fought vociferously for, while I was at University of Florida in my questionable youth no doubt. An album of this caliber was well worth the find, and find it, I did. I would like to give thanks to all the wonderful people who put this album to vinyl as it is surely a history lesson of the highest making. Some of the better pop songs on here are "Museum Outings Montage 'To Sir, With Love' (Lulu)" and "Off and Running" IMHO. Well, this review is "Off and Running" as the best songs from Lulu's only Top 40 American LP ("To Sir with Love," "The Boat That I Row," "Best of Both Worlds," "Morning Dew") are on this compilation.. Many people before us have made a better world we can all enjoy, so what have you done today to pay it forward? Pax and Love, Murf
