Review by Sergey Nikiforov

Five Poems of Pablo Neruda by Mark Abel is a stunning album that beautifully sets the poetry of the Nobel Prize-winning Chilean poet to music. The album showcases five of Neruda's most powerful and evocative poems, including "The Heights of Macchu Picchu" and "Ode to the Tomato," and pairs them with Abel's haunting and atmospheric compositions.

Abel's music perfectly captures the emotional intensity and lyrical beauty of Neruda's words, creating a powerful and immersive listening experience. The instrumentation is lush and layered, with rich strings, haunting woodwinds, and ethereal vocals that all combine to create a dreamlike and otherworldly atmosphere.

The album is a testament to Abel's skill as a composer and his deep understanding of Neruda's poetry. Each track is a masterclass in the art of musical storytelling, with Abel's music perfectly complementing and enhancing the themes and emotions of Neruda's words.
