Review by Losto Kinsky

Mary Swan's album "I'll Wait For You My Heart Belongs To Only You" is a beautiful collection of songs that showcases her incredible vocal talent and songwriting skills. From the opening track, "Heartache and Pain," to the closing ballad, "Goodbye My Love," Mary's voice is a powerful instrument that conveys both heartbreak and hope.

The album's standout track is "Only You," a soulful ballad that showcases Mary's ability to convey deep emotion through her lyrics and vocal performance. The song is a testament to the power of love and the strength it can give us in difficult times.

Another highlight is "Lost Without You," a mid-tempo track that features a catchy melody and a memorable chorus. The song's lyrics are heartfelt and relatable, touching on the feeling of being incomplete without the person you love.

@PJDooWop I know that Mary always said that the two songs she sung on American Bandstand were "My Heart Belongs to Only You" and "Crying in the Chapel."

Hi. Just hearing both sides for the first time. I can see easily why Dick picked the other "Patsy Cline/Brenda Lee"-ish commercial sounding side as a single.

This is true. Sometimes you had "split hits" as well. I Only Want You by The Passions and Just To Be With You is a great example of this, although there were others. A lot of times this happened because a DJ preferred a side and broke it out. What surprises me about this situation is that Dick Clark personally held interests in this one. I'm thinking someone else broke out My Heart Belongs To Only You and Dick Clark rode the wave

@PJDooWop Many times, a designated flip side became the hit song. I remember when working at WKDA Radio in early 1961, the record distributor pushed "First Taste of Love" by Ben E. King, and the station even designated it as its Pick Hit of The Week. Well, it didn't take long until everyone realized that the other side ("Spanish Harlem") was a truly great recording, and we "flipped it over" and "Spanish Harlem" went all the way to No. 1 while "First Taste of Love" began a trip into obscurity.

I find it strange that Swan (which whom Dick Clark was part owner) would have designated this as the A-Side when in reality the flip side was the one getting pushed. I can't choose a favorite between the sides.. I love them both

This was the A-side of a fine two-sided record by the Philadelphia-born songstress, but she had more success with the flip side -- "My Heart Belongs to Only You" -- which she sang on Dick Clark's American Bandstand in 1958.

Mary was a west Philly girl promoted rather poorly by Dick Clark.  She could have been great all over America if only Dick put in the proper effort, but I guess he was all taken up with his success with Bandstand
