Matterplay was formed in 2008 in Olympia Washington by American musician Aric Powell. The project began as a recording collective, but took shape as a full fledged band in 2012 in Portland Oregon. After the release of Matterplay's 2nd album "The Pale and The Page" the project disbanded in late 2013. Matterplay's sound ranges from early Trip-hop to late 90's post Grunge. The band claims acts such as Sneaker Pimps and Failure as their key influences.
