Review by Tadashi Jokagi

Max Schubel's album Exotica Joyeux Noel High Ice Quashed Culch is a unique musical experience that takes listeners on a journey through diverse soundscapes. The album features a fusion of different genres, including jazz, blues, and world music, which blend together seamlessly to create a harmonious and cohesive sound.

The album's opening track, "Exotica," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its exotic rhythms and melodies. The use of percussion and brass instruments gives the song a lively and upbeat feel, which is carried throughout the rest of the album.

"Joyeux Noel" is a beautiful and soulful ballad that showcases Schubel's skill as a pianist. The song's gentle melody and emotional lyrics create a sense of warmth and intimacy that is both comforting and uplifting.

"High Ice" is a more experimental track that incorporates electronic elements and unconventional rhythms. The song's use of distortion and dissonance creates a sense of tension and unease, which is balanced out by the soothing sound of Schubel's piano.

"Quashed Culch" is a playful and upbeat track that features a catchy melody and a lively rhythm section. The song's use of syncopation and layered instrumentation creates a sense of complexity and depth that keeps the listener engaged and entertained.
