Review by Max Zografos

Michel Petrucciani's album Pianism is a mesmerizing display of the legendary jazz pianist's virtuosity and musicality. The album features a diverse range of compositions, from Petrucciani's original compositions to jazz standards and classical pieces.

The opening track, "She Did It Again," sets the tone for the album with its upbeat tempo and intricate piano runs. Petrucciani's improvisational skills are on full display in tracks like "Chloe Meets Gershwin" and "Brazilian Suite." The latter features Petrucciani's fusion of Brazilian rhythms and jazz harmonies, creating a lively and engaging listening experience.

Pianism also showcases Petrucciani's ability to perform classical pieces with grace and precision. His rendition of Chopin's "Nocturne in E-Flat Major" is a standout track, with Petrucciani's delicate touch and nuanced phrasing bringing out the beauty of the composition.

Throughout the album, Petrucciani's playing is accompanied by a talented group of musicians, including drummer Roy Haynes and bassist Dave Holland. Their interplay with Petrucciani's piano adds depth and texture to the music.
