About The Monzas
The Monzas (named after the car "Corvair Monza Spyder") started in 1961 in North Carolina with Ward May, Skip Henshaw, Nelson Miller, Roger Mercer, Sharon Copeland (née Henshaw), Linda Quinlan, and Bing Greeson. Their primary goal was to play dances at local high schools and private parties. A very simple beginning to an extraordary era. There were several changes in personnel over the 10 years together. Big John Thompson joined in around 1963 to lay the bass track down on "Hey I Know You" and he just stayed. Mickey Coombs and Johnny Andrews came in around 1963-64 and Rick Mitchell came in around 1966. Mike Griffin was added on Sax in 1965. Sammy Fowler came in around 1966, with Billy Carden, Don Baker, and Nelson rejoining in 1967-68.

It was 1965 or 66, I was listening to radio station WLS in Chicago late one night and this song was played. Coach Al Wilkes was the tennis coach for the tennis team at my HS. I later got to watch the Monzas perform this song at a Queen Teens or Sub Debs dance in Kingsport, TN. Later I watched them at the Beach Club in Ocean Drive, north of Myrtle Beach. Tonight is Christmas Eve and I've been feeling a little melancholy here in Lithuania 5,000 miles from Kingsport, This is by far not the loneliest Christmas I've had in my life but with my family in Texas and me a looonnng, long way from Dobyns - Bennett, I hope it ill be the last time that I am so far away. Keep em coming and keep the faith guys those were some good years!

You are right perfectly to say that the record is faster, but it is desired like that my friend, because it's regulated to dance on this rate/rhythm, Belgian Popcorn is a style from now on known in the whole world and with the pitch we make an adjustment to be able to dance on a quite precise rate/rhythm, I wish you a very good weekend!!

Turntable is draggin' tempo way too slow. A recorded time of2:46 time should not be 3:05.
