Review by Todd McIntosh

Black Eyes Blue Danube, the latest album by Tommy Dorsey Und Sein Orchester, is a delightful blend of classic big band sounds and modern jazz influences. This album is a must-have for any fan of jazz music.

The album opens with the title track, "Black Eyes Blue Danube," a lively and energetic piece that showcases the incredible musicianship of Tommy Dorsey and his orchestra. The track is followed by "Stardust," a classic ballad that is given new life with the addition of modern jazz elements.

Throughout the album, the musicianship of the orchestra is on full display. The arrangements are tight and precise, and the soloists are given plenty of room to shine. The album also features some excellent vocal performances, with Tommy Dorsey himself providing vocals on several tracks.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Opus One," a swinging tune that is sure to get your feet tapping. The track features some excellent trumpet work by Tommy Dorsey, as well as some fantastic saxophone solos.

About Tommy Dorsey Und Sein Orchester

Orchestra under the leading of Tommy Dorsey, formed in 1935 and disbanded a first time in 1946. By late 1946, the band business was indeed having problems. In December 1946, some members of the band (including Tommy Dorsey) were calling it quits. However, less than two years later, he formed an orchestra with exactly the same name (Tommy Dorsey and his orchestra), but with different members. Dorsey's orchestra was known primarily for its renderings of ballads at dance tempos, frequently with singers such as Jack Leonard and Frank Sinatra.
