Wonderful music from long ago; the shiny shellac gives up its secrets to you and you kindly share it. Thank you

Muggsy's "Great 16" are rightly acknowledged as superb examples of Dixieland jazz, but his few sides from '42, too, are marvelous. The group here is a contingent from the big band he briefly led during the period. Vernon Brown, best known for his association with the Goodman band, the underrated and Stacy-esque Dave Bowman and one of my favorite clarinetists, Irving Fazola, as well as the leader himself all take beautiful solos.
