Peter Frampton - Where I Should Be

Review by Social Monsterz

Where I Should Be, the eighth studio album by Peter Frampton, was released in 1979 and received critical acclaim for its blend of rock, pop, and funk influences. The album features some of Frampton's most memorable tracks, including "I Can't Stand It No More" and "Won't You Be My Friend."

The album's opening track, "I Can't Stand It No More," sets the tone for the rest of the record with its infectious groove and catchy chorus. Frampton's guitar work is impeccable, and his vocals are soulful and powerful.

Other standout tracks on the album include the funky "Where I Should Be (Monkey's Song)," the upbeat "May I Baby," and the emotional ballad "You Don't Know Like I Know."

After the commercial flop of his previous album, 1978 would prove to be Frampton's annus horribilis, marked by his terrible acting debut in the dire film version of 'Sgt Pepper's', his split from his long-term girlfriend, and a near fatal car crash in the Bahamas. Thus, when this album failed to achieve the success desired for, his career appeared to be in full nosedive. Yet, this collection of tracks was a welcome return to his guitar-led compositions, amongst which was his moderate chart hit, and album opener, 'I Can't Stand It No More'. The other album highlight was one of his two covers of Isaac Hayes' songs, 'You Don't Know Like I Know'.

I got this record in 1979 for my 10th birthday and is still one of my most treasured possessions
for whatever reason it was underrated as was PF, who is truly brilliant

When I'm in you record came out the critics said it was too laid back and had these loves songs on it. So he wanted to come out with a more upbeat album which is this result. This was also after his bad car accident he had in the Bahamas by the way.

This record has the same drummer and bass player as the live record album by the way. I think it's a pretty good record.
