Pink Mountaintops' third album, Axis Of Evol, is a psychedelic rock masterpiece that showcases the band's versatility and musical prowess. The album is a fusion of various genres, including garage rock, folk, and blues, and features a wide range of instruments, from acoustic guitars and pianos to electric guitars and synths.
The album's opening track, "Comas," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its slow, dreamy melody and haunting lyrics. Other standout tracks include "Cold Criminals," a bluesy, guitar-driven number with a catchy chorus, and "Slaves," a stripped-down acoustic ballad that showcases frontman Stephen McBean's raw vocals.
One of the album's strengths is the way it seamlessly blends different styles and influences. For example, "Erected" features a driving, punk-inspired beat with fuzzy, distorted guitars, while "Lord, Let Us Shine" has a more laid-back, folky vibe with acoustic guitars and harmonica.
