I was quite possibly the only one who bought it on the fair Island of Guernsey. I heard it on Top Gear, at the late end of 1967, when it was just about the only decent thing on the whole of Radio 1 output! Not much ever changed there, then! Anyway, I rushed down to the local record emporium, otherwise known at the time as "Fred G Fuzzey" (no, I'm not making it up!) and availed myself of a copy. And just to give it a sad ending, a "friend" borrowed it and 2 others, and omitted to return them! The other 2 in case anyone's still reading, were Tomorrow's "My White Bicycle" and The Electric Prunes' "Get Me To The World On Time". What great taste he had...just a shame he couldn't have bought his own copies!!

The Pretty Things were both blessed and cursed with their forward thinking r&b and psychedelic body of work during the ‘60s. Their early r&b period was even dirtier and edgier than anything The Rolling Stones or even the Yardbirds were putting out. And their psychedelic era from 1967-68 pushed even further over the edge than the Beatles or even Pink Floyd could do. The only thing they couldn’t match with their peers is sales. They were too adventurous for Top of the Pops and American Bandstand level success.

I also have a copy of this in visually superb condition. Plays exactly the same. more crackles than a bowl of rice krispies.

Amazing, never heard it before but I will hear it again, a truly ambitious track, there is enough here for several albums.
