Sam Robbins And His Hotel McAlpin Orchestra - Wonder Bar Wagon Wheels

Review by Elisa Pulliam

Wonder Bar Wagon Wheels is an album by Sam Robbins and His Hotel McAlpin Orchestra that takes listeners on a nostalgic journey through the sounds of the 1930s. The album features classic tunes such as "In the Mood" and "Chattanooga Choo Choo," as well as lesser-known gems like "Wagon Wheels" and "Moon Love."

The orchestra's arrangements are tight and polished, with each instrument shining through in turn. Robbins' leadership is apparent in the way the band moves together, building momentum and energy throughout each track. The album's sound is warm and inviting, with a sepia-toned quality that evokes images of ballrooms and dance halls.

Hello Lou - love this vid - the vocals sounds great - Sidney Schiff is a good vocalist - but your visuals - dazzle. I especially appreciate frame 2:07 - my idols - Ginger Rogers and Fred Astair - who were not only super dancers but also enormously talented in every other acting they did. Their movies are masterpieces. Chicago enjoys nice fall which always goes too fast. Thanks for the vid and have a great weekend coming up - you and all of us!!!

Very unusual version of this song about a search-tuning radio in the Cadillac!
