I have listen to quite a few people play this one. I enjoy Brendel because he does not over dramatize pauses and does not linger too much nor too little. He could slow down, but it is actually perfect and compelling!

What can be more perfect then listening to Alfred Brendel playing Schubert.I can't imagine a rendition more heavenly then this , of this Sonata. Every note is treated with such tender loving care, ,and wonderment, as if he were hearing this for the first time. The piano keys never stop singing, and indeed he makes me want to sing. .......my attention doesn't wander for a split second. Alfred Brendel brings out the great genius of Schubert like no-one else. ! I am very lucky indeed to have heard this maestro live many times......and how I cherish those moments today. Pianists now don't seem to have the delicacy to bring Schubert to life as Alfred Brendel does with every note. . I could listen to him all day !
