About Sena Jurinac
Sena (Srebrenka) Jurinac (born 24th of October 1921 in Travnik, Bosnia died 22nd of November 2011 in Hainhofen, Germany) is an operatic soprano. Mrs Jurinac was one of the greatest Austro-Croatian opera divas, born by an Austrian mother and Croatian father. She gained the name Sena while singing in Austria since the shorter version of her name was easier to pronounce. She was a favourit from conductors as Böhm, Krips, Mitropoulos, Knappertbush, Kleiber, Solti, Klemperer, Furtwängler to Herbert von Karajan, who adored her as an artist. One of her greatest roles is that of Octavian in the Strauss opera Der Rosenkavalier (The Knight of the Rose).
Das Sängerporträt is a must-have for any opera lover, and a testament to the incredible talent of Sena Jurinac. Her voice is a true gift, and this album is a fitting tribute to her legacy.
