Shattered Reality - Forget To Remember

Review by Jay Voorhees

Shattered Reality's latest album, Forget To Remember, is a hauntingly beautiful journey through the depths of the human psyche. The band's unique blend of rock, electronic, and classical influences creates a dark, atmospheric sound that draws the listener in from the very first note.

The album's opening track, "Lost In Time," sets the tone for the rest of the record with its brooding, melancholic melody and haunting vocals. From there, the band takes the listener on a journey through a variety of moods and emotions, from the driving, guitar-heavy "Breaking The Silence" to the ethereal, dreamlike "Fading Away."

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The End Is Near," which features a haunting piano melody and soaring vocals that build to a powerful crescendo. Another highlight is "Echoes Of The Past," which pairs a driving electronic beat with soaring guitars and haunting vocals.

About Shattered Reality

Shattered Reality was a metal band in Louisville, KY from 1991-1997. Originally known as Rude Awakening, the lineup consisted of Bill Polk on drums, Mark Huckleberry on guitar, Steve Sawyers on vocals, and Mike Spink on bass. They released two eps; "Rude Awakening" in May 1991, and "Meet Your Maker" in December 1991. Following the departure of guitarist Mark Huckleberry in 1992, the band recruited guitarist Tim Flaherty and changed the band name to Shattered Reality. A self-titled ep was released in December 1993, followed by the full-length "Forget to Remember" in September 1994, and the ep "Into The Blind" in August 1996. Between 1993 and 1996 the band had several different bass players, including Mike Spink, Phil Hebert, Al Chadwell and Paul Kelly. They also added 2nd guitarist JR Perry not long after the release of the "Forget To Remember" album. Before disbanding in 1997, Shattered Reality played many legendary Louisville venues such as The Toy Tiger, Tewligans, Phoenix Hill Tavern, Uncle Pleasants, The Zodiac Club, The KY Center for the Arts, and shared the stage with bands such as Overkill, Souls at Zero, My Own Victim, and Days of the New, among many others.

Great album !!! The singing technique of the vocalist is very cool! Bass, drums, guitars - everything is recorded very well. Metallica with their LOAD and Reload albums - let them nervously smoke on the sidelines, compared to this album from SHATTERED REALITY. I recently bought this album for 100 €, the album is worth it and I don’t regret the amount spent.
