Solomon Grundy - Solomon Grundy

Review by Andrie Boa

Solomon Grundy's self-titled album is a collection of 10 tracks that showcase the band's unique blend of rock and blues. The album opens with the energetic and catchy "Ride On," which sets the tone for what's to come. The band's sound is characterized by gritty guitar riffs, soulful vocals, and tight rhythm sections.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Bad Man," which features a haunting melody and a powerful vocal performance. The song builds to a climax with a blistering guitar solo that leaves the listener wanting more. Another highlight is "Broken Dreams," which showcases the band's ability to write emotive ballads. The song is stripped down, with just vocals and acoustic guitar, and it's a beautiful moment on the album.

Always have loved this; when I told a local record shop owner I was a big fan of the Screaming Trees he made me a tape of this, and I have always been fond of him for that extremely kind and knowledgeable act! I don't suppose this has been converted to MP3 for download anywhere? I still have my original CD, but don't use many CD players these days.

I only discovered this record in the last year or so. Very good psyched out grunge rock. There were a lot of people that thought this side project could actually have been a hit maker his sense of melody and songwriting is really strong and catchy. Screaming Trees we’re not as poppy.

Jim attended Whitman College for a spell. He was traveling back and forth across the state to work on this material. Nice to hear this record again.

I wore this out so much listening to it in high school. Thank you for adding this here so I can re-live those memories as the cassette was lost a long time ago.

Wonderful music. Wasn't aware of this record until I saw Dinosaur Jr 's post. Rest in Peace Van Connor. "Where the Twain shall meet" by Screaming Trees is one of my favourite ever songs with such a cool bass intro.

I didn't know this record even existed until today, when I heard of Van Conner's passing. I'm glad there's some new (to me) music of his to discover on this day when I, and undoubtedly many others, are diving back into the legacy he left us. What a songwriter. What a player. A psychedelic mountain. Rest easy, Van Conner.
