Tommy Ladnier And Orchestra - Weary Blues Ja Da

Review by Roberto rob-nn

Weary Blues Ja Da, the album by Tommy Ladnier and his Orchestra, is a masterpiece in the world of jazz. The album, released in 1938, features Ladnier on trumpet and vocals, along with an ensemble of talented musicians including Sidney Bechet on clarinet and Omer Simeon on alto saxophone.

The album opens with the title track, "Weary Blues Ja Da," a slow and melancholic tune that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Ladnier's trumpet playing is soulful and emotive, while the rest of the band provides a steady and understated backing.

Other standout tracks on the album include "When I Leave the World Behind," a lively and upbeat tune that showcases the band's virtuosic playing, and "St. Louis Blues," a classic tune that the band infuses with their own unique style.

thats real trumpet (cornet i'm afraid). What we had from Louis to Brownie (& Diz) Before the mashed potatoes of Miles followers. Mind you there are some good guys like Hargrove and N Payton, but the spirit is not there any more
