About Tumbleweeds

Very famous Dutch Country Music Group in the 70's. They received gold & platinum for their Nr 1 Hit ''Somewhere Between''. The Tumbleweeds were founded in 1967 by Kaatsheuvel brothers Ad and Ton Masseurs , supplemented with Dick van Krimpen, James Bordes and Manneke Jim Jaspers (replaced by Laura Bordes). Later joined their brother Berry Masseurs and their sister In Masseurs joined the band. In 1973 the band was the first European country band behind the Iron Curtain when they played a two-week tour of Romania. In 1975, bassist John Koogje succeeded by Mickey De Boer and they recorded the following album with this line-up: Ine Masseurs: vocals Ruud Hermans: vocals Ad Masseurs: drums Mickey De Boer: bass Berry Masseurs: rhythm guitar Ton Masseurs: pedal steel guitar solo and Ton Masseurs took over the production itself. In 1974 and 1975 the group toured twice by the United States . They even performed at the Grand Ole Opry, the Carnegie Hall of country music. The band is also on the nomination list of Country Music Awards (for best group, best singer and best instrumentalists). The tour was warmly welcomed but a major breakthrough fails to materialize. In 1977 drummer Ad Masseurs had a serious car accident en route to a gig in Germany . Afterwards, Ruud Hermans to leave the band with his own band a more pop-oriented country rock band. After slowly went downhill with the popularity of the band. In 1980 singer Ine Masseurs decided to focus on her family life and she left the band. After some attempts at a top 10 hit was the group in 1982 lifted. Other band members The Tumbleweeds had quite a few changes.
