My mother was nicknamed Jeannie because of this show being big during her time.

This is Hugo Montenegro's theme (written to replace Richard Wess' first season theme, in 1966).....the one EVERYONE remembers.

This was when zany comedies were in vogue. Today it would be considered offensive.

The F troop was in mixed company like today's corporate company. Corporate companies operate like the military. Both have ranks and a dress code.

SNL had its own politically incorrect version of the song in the 1970s.

Not only absolutely beautiful, it was the inspiration for another great theme - The Simpsons.  Hoyt Curtin was one of the greats.  His "Top Cat" theme was his masterpiece, I think.

Come 'n listen to my story 'bout a man name Jed
Poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed
An' then one day he was shootin' at some food
An' up through the ground come a-bubblin' crude
Oil that is! Black Gold! Texas Tea! Well, the first thing you know, ol' Jed's a millionaire
Kin folk said, "Jed move away from there"
Said "California is the place y'oughta to be"
So they loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverly
Hills that is! Swimmin' pools! Movie stars!
Well, now it's time to say good bye to Jed and all his kin
An' they would like t'thank you folks fer kindly droppin' in
You're all invited back again to this locality
To have a heapin' helpin' of their hospitality
Hillbilly that is! Set a spell! Take your shoes off!
Y'all come back, Y'hear!
