Review by Jack Soutar

Verbal Assault's album "Learn" is a must-listen for any fan of punk rock. Released in 1985, the album features 11 tracks of fast-paced, energetic music that is sure to get you moving. From the opening track "Scared to Death" to the closing track "Disintegration," the band's passion and intensity are evident throughout.

One standout track is "Trial," which features blistering guitar riffs and powerful vocals from lead singer Pete Chramiec. The song's lyrics speak to the band's political and social consciousness, calling for justice and equality for all.

Another highlight of the album is "Heal," a slower, more introspective track that showcases the band's range and versatility. The song's lyrics are deeply personal and emotional, touching on themes of loss, grief, and healing.

I’m relatively new to the hardcore scene, and my buddy was telling me about his days being a Rhode Island hardcore fan in the 80s and he told me to come check this band out from his home town. Incredible, hardcore roots.

Verbal Assault were a cool band ("Learn" was their best record) but not as great as Verbal Abuse and their legendary debut.

I had the privilege of seeing them play in Raleigh shortly after this release and if I recall correctly, one of the band member's parents was there with them. They gave me a set list because I knew all the words... what a great memory of an outstanding and underrated band.
