Review by Luisa Rosini

A New Asian Voice, the collaborative album by Yuji Takahashi and Keiko Hatanaka, is a unique and refreshing take on traditional Japanese music. The album features a combination of traditional and contemporary instruments, including the koto, shakuhachi, and piano, and incorporates elements of jazz and avant-garde music.

The album opens with "Mizu no Miyako," a beautiful and haunting piece that showcases the delicate interplay between the koto and shakuhachi. The duo's improvisational skills are on full display in "Kaze no Tani," a lively and upbeat track that features a lively piano solo.

The album's standout track is "Kokoro no Uta," a stunningly beautiful piece that features Hatanaka's vocals accompanied by the koto and piano. The song is a tribute to the victims of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan and is a moving and heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives.
