Review by Michael Brutsch

The album Shamisen Recital 三味線リサイタル 三味線とラテンリズムによる日本の幻想 by 三橋美智也 & 見砂直照と東京キューバンボーイズ is a unique and captivating blend of traditional Japanese music and Latin rhythms. The album features a mix of original compositions and traditional Japanese folk songs, all performed with the precision and soulful expression that are the hallmarks of these talented musicians.

Listeners will be struck by the virtuosity of the shamisen playing, which is at once delicate and powerful, conveying a range of emotions from joy to sorrow. The addition of Latin percussion and rhythms adds a new dimension to the music, creating a lively and dynamic sound that is both exotic and familiar.
