I wonder if this was written for the 1968 movie "Where Angels Go Trouble Follows". In which a dance takes place at St. Francis School. The producers used Boyce & Hart music instead. It seems to fit the script for the movie perfectly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5_WDhxJFDs

This is definitely by The Barracuda. No idea why youtube's data stream thinks it's by Gandalf. Gandalf never even released a 2nd album. An album of demos and live recordings was issued as "Gandalf 2" in 2007 by Sundazed Records. It does contain a cover of this song that was a minor hit for Barracuda.....

........ I heard it on KGB here in San Diego every day for a week back then. It was on the printed survey but never got beyond 'hitbound' status.

This was played on WRIT in Milwaukee, WI, 1340AM and 102.9 FM during December 1968 and actually broke into their Top 40.

The Barracuda??? I'm pretty sure this is the 60's band Gandalf, off of their second album.
