Review by দ্বোহা চৌধুরী

The Dave Brubeck Quartet's album "Brubeck in Amsterdam" is a jazz masterpiece that showcases the group's exceptional musicianship and creative energy. Recorded live at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in 1960, the album features Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto saxophone, Eugene Wright on bass, and Joe Morello on drums.

The quartet's signature sound is on full display throughout the album, with Brubeck's intricate piano playing and Desmond's smooth saxophone solos blending together seamlessly. The rhythm section of Wright and Morello provides a solid foundation for the group's improvisational explorations, adding a dynamic element to the music.

The album's standout tracks include "St. Louis Blues," "Three to Get Ready," and "Blue Rondo a la Turk," which are all elevated by the quartet's virtuosic performances. The live recording adds an extra layer of excitement to the music, capturing the energy and spontaneity of the quartet's performance.

I Had the LP "The Headliners '63" (from the Columbia Record Club IIRC) but I lost it long ago. This was my favorite track. It sounds great, just like I remember it. Thanks.

Brubeck turns it on proving that Classical and Jazz can meet. His solo on this performance, is truly remarkable.
