Review by Fauzia Nurrizki

The Dave Brubeck Quartet's "Jazz Goes To Junior College" is a delightful album that showcases the band's exceptional musicianship and improvisational skills. Released in 1957, the album features six original compositions by Brubeck, including the catchy and upbeat "Balcony Rock" and the bluesy "Out of Nowhere."

The quartet, consisting of Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto saxophone, Joe Morello on drums, and Norman Bates on bass, displays a tight and cohesive sound throughout the album. Desmond's smooth and melodic saxophone solos are a highlight, while Brubeck's intricate piano playing adds depth and complexity to the compositions.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Duke," a tribute to jazz legend Duke Ellington. The quartet's rendition of the classic tune "Stardust" is also noteworthy, with Desmond's soulful saxophone taking center stage.

I've got the original album and have been listening to it since 1959.  Love this rendition of "These foolish things".

One of the greatest jazz albums of all time. Pity it has not been given the recognition it justly deserves!

yes, please post entire album. I especially like 'St. Louis Blues' on this album. I bought this album over 50 years ago, sometime in the late fifties. I should look around and see if I can find this album on CD before my turntable quits. Thanks Stradivari4cello for posting this great piece. Looking forward to the rest of the album.

An obscure piece from one of the DBQ's most underrated albums. Thanks for posting this favorite of mine. Good for chasing the blues on a gray day.
