Recorded 1955/56 not 1965

For me the loveliest saxophone solo. I know and love every note, every nuance.

If that's Morello on drums I'll eat my drumset!

Definitely Bob Bates and Joe Dodge recorded in 1955. The French CD is wrong!

I bought Dave Brubeck at Newport Jazz Festival recorded in 1956. The album cover mentions ' Jazz: Red Hot and Cool CL699. This cover was printed in 1956 so, sounds like Musicman95 knows what he is talking about. I started buying Brubeck Quartet albums in 1954 and still have all of them. Play them once in a while and remember my youth.

The silken sounds of Paul Desmond, Brubeck's minimalist piano style here and the artful brushes of Joe Dodge....this is the quartet at their best. They positively dance through this song!

Music Man is correct - this piece (Lover) was recorded at Basin Street club in New York in 1954. Besides Brubeck and Desmond it features Joe Dodge on drums and Bob Bates on bass. It's from his Jazz: Red Hot and Cool album

Makes me cry.

It looks like my mistake as you say the notes are confusing. Also the drums don't have the same sound that you get when Joe is on the sticks.

The sleeve notes on the French CD I have state Eugene Wright on bass and Joe Morello on drums. The track was recorded in New York 8th December 1965.

great discovery, thanks! Desmond is God!

I fear your information is not correct. This was recorded in 1955, not '65. The bassist is Bob Bates, and the drummer is Joe Dodge. Found on the Columbia album Jazz: Red Hot & Cool.
