About Del And Sue Smart
Del and Sue Smart, a husband-wife duo who headed West from Missouri back in 1950, tried their luck in LA and then settled down in California's Great Central Valley, where they became fixtures on the West Coast country scene. The Smarts recorded several singles and toured regionally in California and the Pacific Northwest, but they never quite made enough momentum to crack into the national market. Del Smart passed away in 1984, though Sue Smart remained active in the California country scene, though more on the business side of things, building up the booking agency that she and her husband started in the '70s.

Watched them live at The 40 Grand Club in Sacramento back in 1972... Del Reeves was also there that night, good COUNTRY MUSIC!!!

They are my aunt and uncle. Two of the nicest folks on earth. Uncle Del is gone but Aunt Sue doing well in Vegas.

I bought this album barely in my teens, circa 1975, had never heard of this duo before or really since beyond youtube. It was recorded for one of the "budget" labels and was several years old at the time was only about 50 cents at Woolco so I took and gamble and boy did it pay off. They were great, I think the best of the husband/wife duet acts although apparently they never had any major label releases and were only a local California act. Unfortunately I haven't had a copy of this album for 35 years now but I well remember it. Do you happen to have the track "Promises" which was my favorite on the record and could possibly load it on youtube?

I worked at the "Ban Dar Club" in Ventura, CA
back in the late 60's, early 70's, and had the opportunity
to meet them. The band I had at the time played there
two nights each week, with Johnnie & Joanie Mosby.
Still have Del & Sue's 45 rpm of "Damp Towels and Baby Diapers"
