Review by Ryan Sowell

Zápisník Zmizelého is an album by Leoš Janáček, a Czech composer. The album is a collection of songs based on the diary entries of Kamila Stösslová, a woman whom Janáček was infatuated with.

The album is a beautiful tribute to Stösslová, with Janáček's music perfectly capturing the emotions and sentiments in her diary entries. The songs are hauntingly beautiful, with Janáček's signature use of folk melodies and motifs.

The album is a must-listen for fans of Janáček's work. It showcases his incredible skill as a composer and his ability to convey complex emotions through music. The album is a testament to the power of music to evoke powerful emotions and to connect people across time and space.

About Leoš Janáček

Czech composer, musical theorist, folklorist, music writer and teacher. Born July 3, 1854 in Hukvaldy, Moravia (former Austrian Empire), died August 12, 1928 in Ostrava (former Czechoslovakia). He was inspired by Moravian and all Slavic folk music to create an original, modern musical style. Until 1895 he devoted himself mainly to folkloristic research and his early musical output was influenced by contemporaries such as Antonín Dvořák. His later, mature works incorporate his earlier studies of national folk music in a modern, original synthesis. Janáčeks later works include the symphonic poem Sinfonietta, the oratorial Glagolitic Mass, the rhapsody Taras Bulba, string quartets, other chamber works and many original operas.
