Review by Charles Buchwald

London and The Bridges' album Tell It To The Preacher City I Was Born In is a stunning piece of work that showcases the band's talent and creativity. The album features a range of musical styles, from blues and rock to country and folk, all of which are blended together seamlessly to create a unique and captivating sound.

The album's opening track, "The River," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its haunting melody and evocative lyrics. The song's powerful vocals and driving rhythm create a sense of urgency that draws the listener in and never lets go.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Devil's Playground," with its catchy guitar riffs and infectious chorus, and "The Road," a poignant ballad that showcases London and The Bridges' ability to create deeply emotional and moving music.

About London And The Bridges

Great Neck, NY, garage combo formed in 1965, comprising singer Richard Weintraub, guitarist John Sholle, bassist Mike Levy (soon replaced by Johnny Miller), organist Marc Freeman, and drummer John Waxman. The group gigged regularly at local teen clubs and dance parties and ultimately came to the attention of New York City producer Al Harvey, who put together a deal with the Columbia Records subsidiary Date. In March 1966 London and the Bridges issued their debut single, "It Just Ain't Right," followed four months later by "The City I Was Born In." The group released one more effort, "I'll Probably Understand It When I'm Older," before Weintraub got married, effectively bringing London and the Bridges to a close. Sholle and Miller later reunited in Today's Special; the former subsequently enjoyed a career as a bluegrass musician of some repute.

Thumbs up! Catchy chorus and the verses sound a bit like "Hey Gyp."
