Review by DB Ferguson

La Guitarra Española by Narciso Yepes is a virtuosic performance that showcases the beauty and complexity of Spanish guitar music. The album features a collection of masterful compositions that span centuries of Spanish music, from the Baroque to the contemporary era. Narciso Yepes, a renowned classical guitarist, brings a unique sensitivity and technical brilliance to each piece, producing a rich and nuanced sound that captures the soul of the music.

Listeners will be transported to the heart of Spain as they immerse themselves in the intricate melodies and rhythms of La Guitarra Española. The album features some of the most iconic works of Spanish guitar music, including pieces by Francisco Tárrega, Isaac Albéniz, and Manuel de Falla. Yepes' interpretation of these works is breathtaking, as he deftly navigates the intricate fingerwork required to bring the music to life.

Thank you for posting this music Luca. I heard a lot about Yepes from my teachers when I began to study guitar in the 1960's. My 'idol' back then was Alirio Diaz and Jan and Alf were encouraging me to listen to other artists like Bream, Segovia and Yepes. Very nice music.

Muchas gracias.

Gosh, he shouldn't have switched to 10 strings! He's much better on 6, I think.

It's really nice listening to him play the 6 string guitar. Not quite as full, but very oldschool sound.

Cannot be appreciated the full sound, the microphone is missing many details of the sound. That's why reverb is necessary sometimes. What am i saying? even pianists apply reverb to their recordings. The guitar is an instrument to appreciate when being at the moment it's being played.

I'm a lonely guitar player. And i don't know how the guitar sounds when it's being played in front of me by another person. Well, i mean it's long ago since i haven't heard a guitar which wasn't mine. It was when i was attending guitar classes, the teacher played a Bach piece, and even played wrong it sounded amazing, for someone who listens that piece for the first time, of course.

So, yes. the guitar is an instrument of the presence, like any other instrument actually. I mean i'm not trying to calm myself by convincing myself about that, because the guitar is an amazing instrument anyway.

I`m sure he`s quite brilliant but not for me . I wouldn`t make any comment that`s sensible as it`s not my kind of music so best say no more . I`m afraid I cannot get into classical music . My brain cannot take in anything but popular music .
                    Sorry ,
