I was 14 sitting on the beach at Kings Beach on the Sunshine Coast Australia.. it was the most beautiful summers day, the lifeguards to play surf songs over the loud speakers, Beach Boys, Atlantic’s, Surfaries, Shadows .. this particular day they played Atlantis, it was almost like a spiritual experience, I was so emotionally charged, listening to this tune put me into another world, I wanted something I didn’t know what. Many years later when I was 18 a friend started learning guitar, he handed it to me, then I knew why listening to Atlantis wasn’t enough, I wanted to play it & other music on the guitar. The feeling I can best describe is the feeling you first get when you hold the hand of the girl you love, no greater feeling. We played together for many years in bands, but the most fun was jamming together. And yes I can play Atlantis, every time I do I remember that little boy on the beach, I’m 68 now 50 years later & still love my guitar. BTW .. this is my favourite version.

I’m now 72. This is the music I first heard and caused me to love music throughout my life. Still this is my very favourite one, and thanks to The Shadows, Jeff Lordon (if I remember his name correctly) and Norrie Paramour. ?

Also used as station tune by Radio Atlantis (close-down on august the 31th 1974) on 229 meters in de medium wave band (AM). Great time it was during the offshore radio days.
