About Xandra
Sandra Reemer (born October 17, 1950, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia - died June 6, 2017, Amsterdam, Netherlands) was an Indo-Dutch singer. As a child she performed together with her brother Frank, who played the guitar. In the late 1960s she formed the duo with , and in 1972 they represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest. After the duo broke up in 1975, she launched a solo career and entered the Eurovision Song Contest two times as a soloist representing the Netherlands: in 1976 and 1979. She also worked as a TV presenter/host during the 1980s. In 2000, she formed the , together with and . She left the group in 2005 and gave lectures about the spiritual world. She died of breast cancer at age 66.

Ik lees nu pas hier dat Sandra overleden is. Toch een schok. Sandra Reemer was typerend voor een tijdperk van 'onschuldige' Nederlandse televisie en Nederlandse artiesten. Voor mij nog altijd de helft van Sandra & Andres, daarna zelfstandig artiest, toen tv-persoonlijkheid. Wat jammer dat haar niet langer tijd van leven gegund was.
Er is een bergje Nederlandse artiesten van Indische komaf, die Nederlands-Indië vanaf de jaren zestig positief op de kaart hebben gezet, al is de historische realiteit een heel stuk wranger. Indra Kamadjojo, The Blue Diamonds, Anneke Grönloh, Wieteke van Dort, Willem Nijholt, Sandra Reemer, Marion Bloem. Dat typeert ook hoe goed deze - in intieme kring vaak moeizamer - integratie verliep, en dat is meer hun verdienste dan 'de onze'.
Rust in vrede, Sandra. Je hebt het grote publiek veel genoegen gegeven. Ik blijf denken aan je 'Als het om de liefde gaat' en 'Colorado' en hoor je stem.
