Review by Márcia Tondello

Jefa, the latest album from Juwata Jazz Band, is a stunning collection of songs that showcase the band's incredible musicianship and versatility. From the opening notes of "Mambo Ya Kikapu," it's clear that this is a group that knows how to get people moving. The infectious rhythms and joyful melodies are impossible to resist, and the band's tight arrangements keep everything moving along at a brisk pace.

Throughout the album, Juwata Jazz Band explores a variety of styles and influences, from the funky grooves of "Mambo Ya Kikapu" to the soulful balladry of "Mama Africa." They also incorporate elements of traditional African music, as well as jazz and other genres, into their sound, creating a rich and diverse musical tapestry.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Baba Yetu," a soaring anthem that celebrates the power of unity and the importance of community. The song features stirring vocal harmonies, powerful brass arrangements, and a driving rhythm section that propels the music forward with relentless energy.
