This song is just so great. I remember blasting this driving to shows in NYC from Providence early 90s - and I wouldn’t trade in New York for all the Havana I could smoke

just blew my mind a bit today, i do believe the frenetic string sample comes from a track by Pavel Fajt and Iva Bittova called "svatba iva"

Knew where to find my new direction
Came to where the plans are laid
Arterials lead to the heart where they bleed
And I just came here to get paid

Just some creep from the sticksSo this is where the product comes to
Broken up a thousand times
A million people shoehorned into
concrete costumes half their size
Lonely weekends
I had a problem with my hips
Just some creep from the sticks

And now the world of skinny models
Kissing curls of Vegas glitz
And Munich streets are laid with marble
And Cologne gives off a heavy mist
And Paris bridges are all catwalks
London stocks are never broke
And I wouldn’t trade in New York
For all the Havana I could smoke
But what do I know?  Some lousy hick
A crummy fucking creep from the sticks

Well, I came in cold, but I was never sold
on the idea that the streets were paved in gold
People with that kind of pay don’t give it away!
So I guess I’ll go collect my paycheque
Take some snaps for souvenirs
While bomb scares make you hit the deck
I’ll be threading yarns through keyhole ears
I’ll be slightly older and slightly sick
With hair grease from the city’s slick
Just another creep from the sticks
Just another creep from the sticks

Ah, the days when the 'M' in MTV still stood for music. Moonshake were one of the most underrated bands of the early to mid-90s. Maybe they were just a bit too ahead of their time?
